Fujitsu Asia Launches ScanSnap S300 Colour A4 Scanner for ASEAN
Regional IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia launched the ScanSnap S300 colour A4 scanner for the ASEAN markets.
Billed as the world’s smallest A4 duplex Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) scanner, the ScanSnap S300 digitises A4-, B5-, A5-, B6- and A6-sized documents, business cards as well as documents of various custom sizes.
With four modes of operation (Normal, Better, Best and Excellent), the ScanSnap S300 offers users precise control over the quality and size of output image files.
In Normal mode, A4-sized documents in portrait orientation can undergo simplex (one-sided) or duplex (two-sided) scanning at maximum speeds of 8 pages per minute (ppm) or 16 images per minute (ipm) respectively. Colour and monochrome documents scanned under this mode will yield files with output resolutions of 150 dots per inch (dpi).
In Excellent mode, one- and two-sided A4-sized portrait documents are digitised at 0.5ppm and 1ipm respectively, producing 600dpi colour or 1,200dpi monochrome output files.
The ScanSnap S300 holds up to 10 sheets of A4-sized paper in its ADF at any one time. The auto size detection feature allows documents of varying sizes to be scanned in a single batch. Other built-in functions automatically align skewed text, orientate scanned pages and remove blank images.
Bundled programs include:
CardMinder 3.2, for organising scanned business cards and importing scanned images.
ScanSnap Organizer V3.2, for managing output Portable Document Format (PDF) or Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) files.
The product also incorporates optical character recognition (OCR) technology, thus allowing users to examine the contents of individual PDF files via keyword searches.
Compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000 operating systems, the ScanSnap S300 draws power from a Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 connection or an alternating current (AC) supply.
Measuring 284 x 95 x 77mm and weighing 1.4kg, the ScanSnap S300 is approximately half the size and weight of other ScanSnap models previously released by Fujitsu Asia. The compact footprint makes the product is ideal for scanning documents within the confines of a cramped environment.
